FAQs

General Questions

  • While my practice is centered on supporting women, I work with individuals of all gender identities, including those who identify as men, trans, or nonbinary.

Creating a space that prioritizes women’s experiences is an important part of my work, and I also strive to offer an inclusive, affirming environment for anyone who feels aligned with my approach.

  • The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is that I view trauma as something relative. I use the word “trauma” to describe a range of experiences that may have been overwhelming, stored in the body, or not fully processed at the time.

This can include more subtle, repeated experiences that may not seem significant on the surface but still leave a lasting impact, like ongoing criticism, feeling emotionally unsupported, having to keep the peace, or growing up in an environment where your needs weren’t fully seen or met. Even if nothing “big” happened, these experiences can shape how you relate to yourself and others, often showing up as anxiety, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from your emotions.

When I say I take a “trauma-informed” approach, I mean that I focus on understanding your experiences through the lens of what happened to you, rather than what’s wrong with you. I believe many of the patterns you’re struggling with today once made sense in the context of your past. Together, we’ll gently explore and shift those patterns in a way that feels supportive and meaningful.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy approach that helps process and integrate distressing or overwhelming experiences so they feel less intense over time.

You can learn more about EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD.

  • Insight-oriented therapy focuses on understanding the deeper emotional patterns, past experiences, and relationship dynamics that shape how you think, feel, and relate to others.

  • You can schedule a free 15–30 minute consultation through the Contact page to get started. Once we determine that we’re a good fit, you’ll be set up with the online portal, onboarding documents, and recurring weekly or biweekly therapy sessions.

  • In your first session, we’ll talk through what brings you to therapy, your goals, and get a better understanding of your background and experiences.

About Virtual Therapy and other Logistics

  • Virtual therapy is similar to in-person therapy, but sessions take place securely online through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth video platform. It’s recommended that you join from a private space where you can feel comfortable and settled. For EMDR therapy sessions, a laptop or larger screen is recommended. • Yes, research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy. Many clients also find it more convenient and comfortable, which can support consistency and progress.

  • I recommend starting with weekly therapy sessions, so we have time to build momentum.

To support consistency and predictability, sessions are typically scheduled as recurring appointments at the same time each week.

  • All sessions are $200 for 55 minutes. EMDR clients may benefit from longer sessions which cost $270 for 75 minutes and $325 for 90 minutes.
